The word “glossarch” doesn’t exist. At least, not yet. But let’s pretend it does for a second. The first part is “gloss,” a word that comes to us from Ancient Greek via Latin and English. It means “language.” The second part also comes from Ancient Greek and can mean “having power over.” So “glossarch” means simply “language controller.”
So what am I doing making up words? Well, I made up an entire language once. It’s called Angosey. So I’m the Glossarch of Angosey. Hence the name of this blog.
Glossarchy aside, my name is Danny Bowman. I have two poems in print, and I post a 100 word flash fiction story every week on this blog as part of the Friday Fictioneers writing group. I am currently preparing a novella titled “The Creature in the Cage” for submission to publishers. If it is accepted, I will be using my pen name J. E. Bailey.
When I’m not sleeping, parenting, or writing, I use specialized microphones to listen for subaudible sounds high in the atmosphere. Yes, that is actually a job — and it’s awesome.
I also have a whole other blog dedicated to launching helium and solar balloons for high altitude photography and long distance travel – check it out at https://bovineaerospace.wordpress.com/

Hey, Danny, I HAVE TO ask you a question about the photo Rochelle used for this week’s Friday Fictioneers prompt. It’s your photo of the pay phone, but it has no receiver — just something that looks like the top half of a receiver covered in black tape with a dollar sign on it. What is this thing? Of course, I suppose I can make it anything I want in my story (imagination is king, is it not?) but I just thought there must be an interesting explanation for the situation in real life.
Thanks.

P.S. I LOVE your blog title. That term is perfect. I’m going to borrow it to share with a creative writing class I’m teaching at a local college this summer — but I will give you full credit, of course.
I love this insight into ‘you’. Thank you for sharing your past, present and future hopes with us!
Thank you for reading!
